Apricots or Burrito...

I found the problem. Or better yet - I found the junk that was ruining my running life. I though for sure it was the 1/2 pound rice & bean burrito from my favorite restaurant - Taco Bell. This made me really upset because I didn't want to give up my favorite meal from my favorite restaurant. (Inside tip - the 1/2 pound rice & bean burrito isn't on the Taco Bell menu but you can still order it, and it is GOOD!) So, on Friday I stayed away from Taco Bell because I had an 11 mile run planned for Saturday. So, I ate healthy on Friday, snacking on dried apricots, eating pasta, and healthy sandwiches.

Saturday morning I took off for my 11 mile run. Again, I was feeling great. But then... the feeling came back. The feeling I had on Thursday. However, it was worse, but that wasn't my only problem... My other problem was I was 5 miles away from a public bathroom. 5 miles away from freedom. My only hope was Anchorage Marina's Party Store. They don't have a public restroom. In fact they have a huge sign that says "No Public Restroom Inside!" My only hope was to convince the lady who was working that I was in pain and needed to use her "employee" bathroom. I begged and pleaded with her to allow me to use her bathroom, and she said YES! (By the way, if that lady ever reads my blog, thank you soooo much. You saved my life!)

After experiencing relief, I continued on my run. I finished my 11 mile run and felt great. But what "junk" made me have that aweful feeling again? I didn't eat a burrito on Friday. Was there something that I ate on both Friday and Wednesday? Then I remembered... Apricots. I had been eating dried apricots all week! But I thought apricots were good for you? Even though they might be good for you, they caused me a lot of pain. So in my life I have a new motto "Just say no to apricots!"

Side note - How do I know it was the apricots that caused all my pain. Today I had 5 dried apricots and then I waited. Sure enough... the pain came back. Wierd. Who would have thought apricots were so harmful to your health....
