Butterflies...

What really matters in life? Is it work? Is it a hobby? Is it how much money I make or don't make? Last Wednesday I faced this question. I had a choice to make. Do I work an extra hour or two at church, or do I cut out of work for a couple hours and join Elliana on her first field trip ever? Last Wednesday I made the choice to cut out of work for a few hours and join my daugher on her field trip to the butterfly exhibit at Meijer Gardens.

In doing this I believe I answered, for myself, the question of what really matters? I believe what really matters in life isn't the kind of car you drive (afterall I drive a faded red pick-up truck) or how much money you make. I believe what really matters is the impact you can make in the lives of people that are close to you. So, with that in mind I decided to spend some precious moments with my daughter Elliana. We had a great time chasing around butterflies, running through the tunnel, but overall the fun we had came from just spending time together.

Here some pictures of our great day looking at the butterflies...

Elliana and Ceci get ready for the big day. Check out the big butterfly on Elliana's shirt!

Elliana is all smiles on her field trip. She is really enjoying the butterflies!

Elliana shows her boyfriend Benji the butterflies! (He's the only boy in her preschool class!)

Even Mallory liked the butterflies!

Finally, after an hour Elliana was ready to go!

It was a great day, and the butterflies were pretty cool. Everything was fine until we were leaving. Elliana looked at Ceci and said "Mom, I'm really upset about something. I'm upset because a butterfly didn't land on my nose!" She was referring to this picture that she saw on the way in...

Good choice! BTW...if you want to ditch the "faded red truck" I'll make you a great deal on a 2001 VW Jetta! Anybody interested, give me a call!

Matt - you need to get a blog and post a picture of your Jetta on it. Maybe that will get the thing sold.

BTW - I don't know what is better - a "faded red truck" or a "shiny blueish/green VW thats been in the shop more than it has been on the road".
