Accent...
After taking a short quizz, I guess I talk like I'm from the mid-west. This makes me a little sad, because I'm originally from California. But, when I think about it, I've lived in Michigan almost as long as I lived in California - 15 years in Michigan, 17 years in California. So here are the results of the quiz I took about what I sound like when I speak...
What American accent do you have? Your Result: The Inland North You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop." | |

Like Dave - I can totally feel your pain man - like - we moved here 11 years ago and I like totally sound like I am from here. Like I say "pop" and all sorts of things like that - 'ya know!! :)
Seriously, I do feel your pain. I was born and raised in Cali and moved at the ripe old age of 26. I have and ear for languages and tend to pick up accents depending on my surroundings. When you do on mission trips to the South do you find you pick up a bit of a southern drawl? Maybe you just have the same "gift".
Besides being a Michigander is not all that bad - I consider it a distinct blessing. Living here has strengthened my marriage and both my kids were born here - it's all good.
ha! i'm almost tied between the midland and the west, with midland just squeaking out the win. i can live with that. ty
wait, wait, wait! what's wrong about being from wisconsin?
