Perfection...
Three years ago we tried camping. I mean we really tried. My friend Matt let us borrow his pop up trailer for a week. We reserved a site at the Holland State Park. We took time off of work. We purchased some camping gear. We planned out meals. We really tried this camping thing… three years ago.
Three years ago our camping experience was a nightmare, and that’s saying it nicely. It was an utter nightmare because we had a one year old that would not sleep in the camper. We tried numerous techniques, but none of them worked. Finally, after trying to get her to sleep for hours, Ceci took our one year old home and put her in her own bed. She fell asleep in seconds. I guess she didn’t like camping.
Three years later… We decided to try this camping thing again. Some friends of ours have been asking us for some time to go camping with them. Now these friends are serious campers. They have all the gear – lanterns, a tent you can stand up in, a stove, you name it, they have it. My camping friend even has a man station. We called it a man station, but what it really is is a portable kitchen for camping. The thing is cool. Check it out…
So our friends, the real camping friends, have been asking us to go camping for some time. For a while we kept saying no. Our excuse? We already tried that and failed! But this past May, after they asked us again, (I give them credit for asking us over and over.) we said yes.
This past weekend we ventured out on our camping experience. And let me say this from the beginning… it was perfect. We had perfect weather. We had the perfect people to go camping with. The kids took great naps. We had a wonderful time swimming in the pool. And the food that we ate was perfect! I mean the food was fantastic. I never ate so well in my life. People say when you eat outside the food tastes a lot better, and you know what, they are right! Everything was great.
So, thank-you Pleune family, and soon to be Wolters’ family. Thanks for the perfect weekend of camping.
Oh yeah, one more thing. Our one year old, who wouldn’t fall asleep in the camper three years ago… She wants to go camping next week, and the week after that, and the week after that, and the week after that. It turns out she really likes this camping thing. Looks like we’ll go camping again.
Here are some pictures from our perfect weekend...

I mean this was the best corn I've ever had.
This was the best corn Elliana ever had too.
