Good Discussions...
A few weeks ago I wrote this on my blog... "So, this summer one of my goals is to come up with a plan for the youth ministry. I’m in the process of assembling a team to talk about and come up with a teaching plan that answers the question, “What do we want teenagers to learn during middle school and high school?” I’m looking forward to these conversations because I do not want to waste this opportunity, and I don’t want to waste teenager’s time.
Since I wrote that down, I've had numerous meetings with some very smart and wise people - veteran youth leaders, parents, and teenagers. After some great meetings I think we're finally getting somewhere. Just this past week we've identified four areas/questions that will serve as the basis for all that we will be teaching teenagers. Here are the four questions...
1. Who am I?
2. Who is God?
3. How can I live an abundant life?
4. Can my life make a difference?
I know there are numerous things you can teach under each question - I won't get into that here, but this is the initial framework. I think at one point in time every person asks these questions. So, moving forward the teen ministry at LVC will be looking into how do we answer these questions.
Feel free to share your thoughts. I would love to hear.
