E-mails...

Since July 7, I've sent 776 e-mails. That's a lot of e-mails. How many e-mails have you sent? Is e-mail a good way to communicate? How did people communicate before e-mail? I love e-mail.

I've got you beat just slighty, with 1028 since July 7th. I was thinking about email on my run this morning, and realized that I've been a heavy email user since about 1995. I have handwritten my fair share of letters, love notes and thank yous, but ultimately, email still wins out. I like it because I can keep track of my conversations (and look up information later, if need be), there's typically not a disagreement over what was said (although you can debate "tone") and it's fast and convenient.

My email usage is only going to skyrocket exponentially with the addition of the BlackBerry, but for now I'm willing to live with that.

Also, for the record, in that same period since July 7, I've received 2,759 (which includes some select newsletters and "important spam"). Not sure how many I've deleted in that period.

I have no idea how to check my email history stats in Outlook. Plus, being the slightly o/c guy that I am, I periodically go through and clean up my email (I ruthlessly delete all my unnecessary inbox emails, all my sent emails and all my deleted emails...which is great until, like Jason points out, I need to remember a conversation).

But, email is probably my preferable mode of communication. I find I often want to email someone rather than call them. Which makes me think sometimes, email is a convenient way to share information, but a reduced/poor method to develop relationship?? But, I guess a majority of my emailing is to share information, so, it works!!

OK- I clean out my email all the time! I have no idea how many I have gotten. But- I've sent over 700 in the past year- not as impressive as you... but 700 is still quite substantial.
