A few things...
Random thoughts...
- Reading two good books right now - Crazy Love by Francis Chan and Made to Stick by Chip & Dan Heath. I'm really liking the Made to Stick book. It's challenging the way I communicate.
- I preach 5 of the next 6 Sundays. I'm looking forward to the challenge of preparing messages. It should be fun.
- Speaking of messages, I got my message for this Sunday ripped apart by my wife. It was good though. It needed to get ripped apart. I needed to be challenged. I believe the best way to study the Bible is in community, and it was fun to go back and forth over a passage. My wife and I didn't agree on everything, and that's OK, but I did see where she was coming from.
- I need to work on speaking less Christianese. There is a language that Christians speak that makes no sense to people who don't go to church, or for that matter, people who do go to church. I need to choose my words wisely, and look for creative ways to communicate.
- I should install a shocking device under the platform when I speak, and when I use a Cristianese word people can shock me. I wouldn't give Josh the control because he would shock me all the time just for the fun of it!
- I'm realizing that I have high expectations of people, but I have extremely high expectations of myself. I think this is ok. I want things done well. I'm on a pursuit to be part of a church that does things well and top notch. I believe God deserves our best, and I'm tired of being in places that settle for just good enough. Now there are some people at LVC that feel this same way, and those are the people I really enjoy working with.
- I can't believe I will have three daughters occupying my house in 6 weeks. This pregancy went by fast - probably not fast enough for Ceci.

Love reading your posts buddy. Good stuff. Good working out with you yesterday and enjoyed seeing you at Panera this morning. You rock!
I totally agree with you about putting out the best you can. But with that comes the danger of beating yourself up and never feeling you quite measured up. I believe we God deserves our absolute best always and so do the people who come to worship. Thats what I loved about doing curriculum for children's ministry. It was my way of giving my best for God's kids. I think you do a great job for God's kids too. Blessings to both you and Ceci of you new little one.
