Positive Attitudes...

Loved this post by Perry Noble. I want to/need to surround myself with people who have a positive attitude, and people who are willing to try anything. I love hearing people say, "sure we can do that. Let's give it a try." Here's what Perry had to say.

Seven things senior pastors want their staff to know - part one

#1 - I Need Positive Attitudes

Two thoughts on this…

First of all…I think a person can (and should) be held accountable for their attitude. After all, Scripture tells us in Philippians 2:5 to have the attitude of Christ.

I’m not talking about people who have a bad day from time to time–we all have those! We are imperfect people who work in an imperfect world.

BUT…I am talking about the staff member that treats everyone around him or her as some sort of inferior idiot…that simply cannot be tolerated on any staff.

The second thought in this line of thinking is a pastor needs “can do” people around him…what I mean is when he is casting vision he doesn’t need people rolling their eyes and making groaning noises and trying to play “devils advocate.” (By the way–the devil doesn’t need ANY help!)

BUT…he does need honesty! Let me paint a picture of how this looks… To read more of this post go here.

By the way, Matt S., the worship leader at LVC has been one of those "can do" people. The other week, I want to play the song "Slow Fade" by Casting Crowns. I was willing to play the CD, but asked Matt if he could pull it off. He was willing to give it a shot. He never said, "I don't know." He never complained. He just did it, and he did a FANTASTIC job with the song. I really appreciated Matt's willingness to try it. I loved his attitude.

I need people around me with postive, can do attitudes. Those are the people I'm looking to surround myself with.
