Feeling Appreciated

Last Sunday was "Pastor Appreciation Day". Pastor Appreciation day comes around every October, and it's not just limited to one day. In fact, the entire month of October is Pastor Appreciation month! One year, the church I was working at had people sign up to bring Ceci and I a meal at some point during the month of October. I think that year we received around 20 meals. That was a great year, but I did get a little tired of casseroles.

Anyway, last Sunday was the day the Vineyard appreciated the pastors on staff. During both services we were given some very generous gift cards. Gift cards to Til Midnight, The Wild Chef, Barnes and Noble, and Menards. Let me tell you, getting those gifts cards really made me feel appreciated!

But during the first service, something funny happened. My friend Gary was talking about the pastors and giving out the gift cards. First, he gave the til Midnight gift card to the wives, saying that gift card was for them. Then, he said, "We don't want to forget about the men, so here is a gift card to Menards." When he said that, I started to giggle. Because we all know that gift card to Menards was not for me. It was for Ceci. She was the one who really felt appreciated by receiving that card. In fact, she felt so appreciated that Sunday afternoon we were at Menards purchasing her new work bench! Here's the work bench we got...

The completed workbench!
The workbench after Ceci organized it!
After looking at the work bench you might be thinking, "Dave that is for you too. That work bench is not just for Ceci!" Well, to you I say, "look at this picture!"

This is how I found the work bench yesterday when I got home from work. Now, let me ask you a question, "whose work bench is this?"

To be honest, I'm extremely happy that Ceci got a work bench for Pastor's Appreciation Day! Being married to a pastor can be hard. I share a lot of junk with her, and she does a great job listening! So, happy Pastor's Appreciation Day Ceci. You are the person who really should have been appreciated! Now, have fun with your new work bench.

Happy Pastor Appreciation to me! Thanks for the work bench. You can store a hammer in it if you want.

Funny you should post this. I thought the same thing. I thought "Dave would appreciate a gift card to Steve and Barrys or some other trendy clothing store." How funny. You both rock and are the most amazing Youth Pastor and wife/youth leader/support person EVER!!!!! YOu are hugly appreciated!! Sorry no casserole. :)
