One day at preschool...

On Monday Elliana was the star helper at school, and what that means is she has to bring her mom or dad to class to assist with the class. Previously, Ceci had gone, but this time it was my turn.

Now, I work with teenagers, and while teenagers might intimidate some people, I don’t mind them. In fact, I love working with teenagers. But when it came to helping out with in my daughter’s preschool class, I was terrified. I was scared to go into a classroom filled with wild and crazy 4 year olds.

Elliana and I got to her class early. I got my instructions while Elliana played with her buddies, and then class was on. For the next two hours this is what I heard and experienced…

• “Dude, do you want to follow me around all afternoon and watch me play?” (spoken by a 4-year old boy)

• Little kids telling random stories about random things, and no one else listened to their story because they were to focused on getting ready to tell their own story.

• I think one kid smelled like pee.

• Elliana’s friends were constantly staring at me.

• One girl leaned over and hit me. Then the teacher took her to a corner and talked to her for 10 minutes. She came back with red eyes.

• Kids are picky when it comes to food. Some like the ritz bitz that we brought. Others liked the apples. But everyone loved the juice boxes.

• Kids have short attention spans.

But the best thing I experienced was one happy 4 year old that loved having her daddy at school. It was an experience I will remember the rest of my life, and no dude, I don’t want to follow you around all afternoon and watch you play!

Haha, that's awesome. Welcome to my world. I had one kid poo twice today in his pants and it smelled lovely. I bet Ellie loved having you there. It's nice to see that involved parents still exist somewhere out there in the world.

yo dude, I mean Dave. That is a great story. Little kids do some funny, crazy things. Can't wait to be taking my own kids to pre-school.
