Not my place...

Yesterday was a long day at church. We had one service because Paul, the senior pastor, is leaving for a year to teach and relax in California. The service began at 10:00 and was over after 12:30. I heard the service was great, but my part of it was exhausting. The reason – I was in charge of 60 kids ranging in age from 4 years old to 5th grade. We were good for about an hour – nothing beats a veggie tales video. But after that hour we had to improvise. Nothing beats games like simon says and duck, duck goose. Finally, I had to resort to giving out chocolate. It’s always good to see kids get hyped up on sugar.

After a Sunday like yesterday I know one thing – my place is not in children’s ministry. Give me a room full of 60 teenagers and I love it. Give me a room full of 60 kids and I want to cry. I guess it’s always good to know who you are, and who I am is not a children’s pastor!
