Things I wished I would have done earlier... pt. 2

Ten years into youth ministry, I have realized there are things that I would do differently. I mentioned one of those things on Friday. To read that entry click here.

Well, here is another installment of things I would do differently. As I look back on my last ten years I wish I would have had a plan in regards to what I wanted teenagers to learn in middle school and high school. I had themes each year, and each year I would sit down and come up with topics that I wanted to discuss, but I never sat down with my team and figured out what we wanted teenagers to learn as they went through their teenage years.

So, this summer one of my goals is to come up with a plan for the youth ministry. I’m in the process of assembling a team to talk about and come up with a teaching plan that answers the question, “What do we want teenagers to learn during middle school and high school?” I’m looking forward to these conversations because I do not want to waste this opportunity, and I don’t want to waste teenager’s time.
