Things I wished I would have done earlier... pt. 3

One word: blog. Yes, I wish I would have started blogging earlier, or atleast journaled some of my thoughts before now. So, why do I blog? Here are a few reasons I blog.

1. It forces me to process some of my thoughts.
By nature I'm not the deepest of thinkers. I know that about myself, and I'm cool with that. But that doesn't mean I can't stretch myself and grow. So, blogging stretches me. It challenges me to think a little deeper about things.
2. It gives me the opportunity to share things I'm learning with others.
I love reading other people's blogs and reading about what they are learning. Through other people's blogs I can learn alot. I can learn from their mistakes and their successes. On the right you will find people's blogs that I enjoy reading. So, hopefully, through my blog, I can share with other people what I've learned and challenge others.
3. It gives people/teenagers an inside perspective into what is going in my life.
I want to be transperant. I don't want people to think that I have it all together, or that my life is perfect. I want people, especially the teenagers I get to hang out with, to know that I struggle with things. I have hard times. I have dissapointment. I mess up. And personally, I too am trying to figure out my relationship with Jesus and understand what it means to be his follower in 2007.
4. It's nice have a record of your life.
I like to look back and see what has happened in my life, and blogging allows me to do that. There's a reason I don't eat apricots anymore. Read the archives of my blog and you will find out why.
5. It allows me to share pictures with family and friends.

I think that is a good enough list right now. But bottomline, the reason I blog is for me. I do this to stretch myself and as a way to remember God's faithfulness in my life.

One more thing - I have to give credit where credit is due. I started blogging because of an article Steve Argue wrote in Group magazine. In the article he challenged youth pastors to think deeper, and one of the ways to do that was through blogging. So, now you know the story behind my blog.

I enjoy your blogging a lot Dave. I'm glad that you do it so frequently! And that you figure out the new trendy things to do on your blog so that the rest of us can play catch up to be as cool as you.
