After ten years in full time ministry...

i'm an intern again. Yes, that's right, an intern. Let me explain.

Over the past few years I've been working on finishing my graduate education at Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. Finishing the degree has been slow going, since I'm taking one class at a time while I continue to work. For the most part I've just been taking classes on line, but now I'm to the point in my program where they require "field study", which is a fancy name for an internship. So, this summer I called the school and said "look, I've been in full time ministry for ten years. I've done everything under the sun in ministry - preached, performed weddings, funerals, visited people, organized and led a ministry in the church, etc. - is there anyway that ten years of experience can count for my internship?" Their response was a short one - "No. We like students, regardless of their ministry experience, to do a field study." Personally, I didn't like their response, so I challenged their position, which ended up in me... enrolling in their "field study" program.

So, as of yesterday, I'm an intern. Yippee! Just don't ask me to make copies or pick up doughnuts. Oh wait, I already do that because it's part of my job!!!
