Steps...

The past few days I've been thinking a lot about steps I need to take in my life. Call them New Year's resolutions if you want. Regardless of what name I attach to them, here are my next steps... (They are in no particular order.)

  • Develop a life goal list - I love what I'm doing with my life, but I feel my life needs a little more direction. I need some concrete things out there that I'm shooting for and working towards. I recently read a great article by Mark Batterson on developing life goals. You can download it here. (It's the sample chapter from his new book.) One of the things I want to do is get a day away to pray, dream, and draw up a life goal list. Here are some goals I know would make the list - finish my masters degree, run a marathon, go to australia, get out of debt, build a house, run a triathlon. Those are just a few.
  • Develop OtherPeopleMatter.org further - There have been some really cool things that have happened through OtherPeopleMatter.org and JQ99. Big props to my friend Jason Kehrer, who has helped a ton with this. But, I would like to see what's next for OPM. I think the idea is great, and with the radio station behind it I would like to see it grow.
  • Develop a Regular Routine - This includes excercise, reading the Bible, prayer, time with the family, etc. Ceci reminded me that I used to be good at this, and I was, but over the past few years I haven't been so good. Frankly, I watch too much TV - especially in the morning. My hope here is to get up every day around 5:30am, workout, read, and then be ready to tackle the day. This will get my day off to a great start - it has in the past, and I plan to get back to it.
  • Develop friendships with people who are not Christians - I don't have any friendship with people who don't know Jesus. The one frienship I was hoping to estabish with someone who doesn't know Jesus, well that person died. Seriously. (By the way, this is wrecking me!) For too long, I've lived in this Christian bubble, and that needs to change.
Those are a few of the next steps I will be taking. What next steps are you taking with your life?

dave,

sounds like some good life-affirming steps that actually sound fairly fun.

i pray you're able.

since there are several of us trying this, maybe there is strength in numbers if we help each other out.
